Dental surgery & implantology

To ensure optimal care for your teeth and jaw

If all tooth-preserving measures fail, a tooth must be surgically removed. The field of general dental surgery encompasses a wide range of treatments. These include, for example, wisdom tooth removal, apicoectomy (root-end resection), and periodontal surgery.

We would be happy to advise you on the possibilities of oral surgical treatment.

Wisdom teeth

Wisdom tooth removal is a routine procedure at our practice. However, this “troublemaker” must be extracted through a surgical procedure. This should be done in a timely manner to avoid damaging the adjacent teeth and to prevent inflammation. Thanks to state-of-the-art diagnostic technology, we can precisely determine the position of your wisdom tooth so that it can be removed without any problems. As a rule, this procedure is performed under local anesthesia. For anxious patients, however, we also offer other sedation options, including general anesthesia. We would be happy to find the right solution for you.

Root tip resection

If a root canal is no longer sufficient to save your tooth, the tip of the tooth’s root and any inflamed areas of the jawbone must be surgically removed. Typically, this “minor” procedure takes about 15–30 minutes and can be performed under local anesthesia or general anesthesia.

Periodontal surgery

Periodontal surgery becomes necessary when the entire periodontal ligament is inflamed. In cases of such advanced periodontitis, even repeated professional teeth cleaning may no longer be enough to prevent tooth loss. We would be happy to advise you on the options for so-called open periodontal treatment, in which the entire tooth root is cleaned and cleared of bacteria, inflamed tissue is removed, and, if necessary, the bone is rebuilt.

Implantology – Permanently anchored artificial roots

Implants are artificial tooth roots that replace your damaged natural roots. They are surgically placed into the jawbone in the form of screws, providing a stable foundation for new, artificial teeth. Your implant-supported restoration consists of three components: an artificial root, an abutment, and a dental crown, bridge, or denture.

Modern dental implants offer many advantages today that were not available in the past. Whereas adjacent teeth used to serve as a kind of support pillar, implants allow healthy teeth to remain in their natural state. An implant is placed only where it is needed. This procedure allows for the excellent functional and aesthetic replacement of damaged tooth structures, ensuring that your teeth and the entire jaw are once again perfectly aligned, even, and naturally resilient.

An overview of the benefits of dental implants:

  • A robust and durable solution
  • A solution that can be expanded at any time (from dental crowns to bridges to dentures)
  • A practical solution that offers a high level of comfort
  • Good compatibility of the material used
